Onirica

Onirica” explores the sensations of a concretely unreal world, which, however, dwells in the human soul and mind: Dreams, a place where it is possible to escape from reality, so oppressive and hysterical, and seek purity.

I used patterns that evoke floors and walls that extend into the surrounding space without, however, allowing you to grasp the exact location: outdoor and indoor places merge, creating vast landscapes characterized by imposing and desolate architectural elements. Female presence is elusive: only some fragments, belonging to different women, are represented.

Collage technique is able to best represent the surreal aesthetic of my ideal world. In fact, through the juxtaposition of images sometimes distant and in sharp contrast between them, it can make coexist elements and realities that otherwise would never meet: exactly as dreamlike dimension, with its infinite nuances and contradictions that, in the world where we live, would hardly be reconciled. I find it a poetic way to “make peace with your own brain”.

Onirica” shows the ambiguous aspect of the world of dreams, which can be reassuring and at the same time vaguely disturbing. A universe where everything seems plausible and real, yet the feeling that there is something wrong permeates the atmosphere. And only upon awakening, in the so-called real world, will it be clear what it is.
